Physical Therapy

Physical rehabilitative methods of pain management are  appropriate for many types  of pain  and are essential in patient with chronic pain syndrome.  In addition to relieving pain, such methods can  reduce fear and anxiety,improve  physical function, and  alter  physiological response to pain.
The treatments used  in physical therapy include stretching,exercise, reconditioning ( to improve  strength, endurence, and flexibility),  gait and posture training, and attention to  ergonomics and body mechanics.
Other  non invasive  physical  treatments for pain include thermotherapy ( application  of heat), cryotherapy( application of cold), counter- irritation, and  electroanalgesia ( e.g.  transcutaneous electrical  stimulation.
